Cinemark At The Pike

Who doesn’t love the movies? Especially this summer with so many great movies coming out, the place to see one is Cinemark at the Pike. This movie theater is smack dab right in the middle of all the action down at the Pike. This movie theater is located on Pine street and is one behemoth of a movie center.

This place is HUGE. Tons of large high quality screens for your viewing pleasure. I decided to see the movie TED at this Cinemark and give this place a review. Upon arrival I noticed a large amount of loud noisy teenagers in the lobby and pretty much zero security or crowd control. Other than that It was very clean and smelled like fresh buttered popcorn. Ticket prices can be very expensive for a date so I would definetly go to a matinee or morning movie instead. Once seated in the theater I enjoyed the comfy plush chairs and large screen. Overall It was a great movie experience at Cinemark and recommend this place for a matinee or morning flick.

P.F. Chang's

P.F. Chang’s is a pretty high end restaurant that focuses on Chinese food and they are known for their customer service and very crowded restaurants. I know usually crowded and customer service don’t end up in the same sentence but I have never had a problem with them screwing up orders and stuff like that.

On this day we went for the double date so there were four of us. It was a bit of a problem getting there on time because the parking situation in The Pike area of Downtown Long Beach is a nightmare. There is an adjacent parking structure but that is for the Long Beach Aquarium and they charge $8 bucks to park there. You can also pull right up to the front door which is right by the Pine Avenue Pier and valet park if you like but I am not sure what that costs. Either way they make you pay down there and I went for the parking structure that is located over by the Hyatt The Pike.

We started off with 2 lettuce wraps for our appetizers and man are these things yummy. They come with chicken and you basically get about 7 pieces of lettuce and some sauce and you make lettuce tacos out of them. Very healthy and clever way to do appetizers.

Here is what is in the Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps, they are Wok-seared minced chicken, mushrooms, green onions, and water chestnuts served over crispy rice sticks and served with cool, crisp lettuce cups. You can easily eat 2 of these dishes yourself in my opinion.

For our main course we had the Shrimp With Candied Walnuts and here is what comes in that dish. Tender shrimp tossed in a creamy sauce with candied walnuts and honeydew melon. I actually really liked the way they did the honeydew melon it was very yummy!

Chilli's

Chili’s opened as a fun Dallas burger joint with a loyalty to happy hour and blue jeans. We prided ourselves on our humble beginnings, following a devotion to great food, warm hospitality and community spirit. Today, with restaurants all over the world, we continue to cook up the best in casual fare, offering the same genuine service we did way back when. And, just as in 1975, we’re committed to giving back to the communities that have helped us grow.

Outback Steakhouse

I enjoy coming to the Outback Steakhouse when I am in the mood for a nice meal. I have always found the steaks to be good and the servers were knowledgeable and polite. The only problem I have with this particular Outback Steakhouse is the parking situation. You cannot pull right up to the front door and park unless you valet park. The alternatives are to find your way into one of the paid parking garages that are located on both sides of Shoreline Drive and park there. If you are new to the area it can be tough finding a parking spot. Other than that the location is awesome and you have views of Rainbow Harbor.

Outback Steakhouse is an Australian themed steakhouse restaurant. Although beef and steak items make up a good portion of the menu, the concept offers a variety of chicken, ribs, seafood, and pasta dishes. The Company’s strategy is to differentiate its restaurants by emphasizing consistently high-quality food and service, generous portions at moderate prices and a casual atmosphere suggestive of the Australian Outback.

Boston's

Boston’s is a full-service, pizza-themed, casual dining restaurant and sports bar offering incredible gourmet pizzas (18 varieties!) and gourmet pasta, along with a wide variety of other great dishes, such as wings, ribs, burgers, entree size salads, sandwiches and the largest kid’s menu in the casual dining category. Boston’s offers a contemporary, sit-down family dining atmosphere with a separate sports bar customized with local team memorabilia. The result is a fun, high-energy setting for families and sports enthusiasts alike. ‎

Bubba Gump Shrimp

The first Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant and Market opened in 1996 on Cannery Row in Monterey, California. At the core, Bubba Gump Shrimp is a small chain of seafood restaurants committed to providing a casual environment where everyone can enjoy some great seafood. Shrimp is the most popular item on the menu.

If you are looking for some thing to try, I would give the Run Across America sampler a shot to start things off and the Louisiana Lemonade and it was surprisingly strong & delicious if you are looking for something refreshing.

The restaurant is located over by the Aquarium of the Pacific and is kind of hidden away from the rest of the pike like where the Hooters and Movie theatre is. You have to get on the bridge with the blue lights and go over Shoreline drive and then down the steps to find Bubba Gump Shrimp co so that can be a bit tricky.

Hyatt The Pike Long Beach

The Avia hotel is located at 285 Bay Street, Long Beach, CA 90802 and is right in the middle of the Pike in downtown Long Beach. If you are participating in an event downtown then this is the place for you to stay. You can walk to the convention center, the Aquarium of the pacific and all the restaurants located in the pike and on the other site of the street by the Pine Ave Pier.

Oh and in case you are wondering why it is called the Avia, they joined the Hyatt chain of hotels in 2011 so this hotel is also known as The Hyatt The Pike Long Beach. The Hyatt at the pike is not the same hotel as the Hyatt that is connected to the convention center. It is easy enough to walk back and forth between them two hotels but I wanted to clear that up.

Cinemark At The Pike

I like this theatre because the place is typically pretty clean and i have never been here when it was to crowded. It has the nice reclining seats and that is really the only way to watch a movie nowadays. You have to park at the The Pike Parking Garage and the movie theatre does validate so your safe if your movie is under 2 hours which it typically is.

There are a bunch of shops and restaurants around this movie theatre because it is located in an area of Long Beach called The Pike which is a huge tourist trap. I think that is kind of a cool feature. Its not like they can hike up the prices more because of the location because they are already at a premium. I have come here a few times during the day and it was awesome.

Laugh Factory

I never actually went into this Laugh Factory so all that I can talk about is the location that this Laugh Factory is in and what is located around it. I would say this Laugh Factory opened up at the pike about 3 years ago in 2009 or so and it appears to be pretty happening minus the fact that I have never showed up.

Right across the street is the Long Beach Convention Center and the location the pike actually sits on used to be a parking lot for the Long Beach Convention Center. The Laugh Factory has some pretty cool features outside that I took pictures of and that is about all that I can speak of at this time. I will come back and talk more once I get in and see one of the shows.
