Shore Hotel

When it comes to chic and ultra-hip cities in southern California; Santa Monica comes in at the top. With an eclectic mix of hipsters, actors, pro athletes, locals, and tons of tourists this city is has something for everyone. The Shore Hotel Santa Monica is located directly on the waterfront on Ocean Avenue. It’s a gorgeous super chic luxury hotel that is even environmental friendly.

From the street you can see the amazing pool and the blue lighting above is ultra-cool. The rooms are all decked out and rooms the rooms that have a view of the Pacific Ocean are absolutely breath taking. This is by far one of the coolest looking hotels located right in the bustling city of Santa Monica. If you want an ultra-luxurious getaway in one of the hottest spots in the country definitely check out the Shore hotel in Santa Monica.

Best Western Golden Sails

Best Western Golden Sails hotel in Long Beach has been around since I have been a little kid. It is located on PCH just past Loynes right next to the water. It is located adjacent to the Cerritos Bahia Marina and across the street from the Marina Pacifica shopping center. The hotel itself is a maroon and brown color which is not that easy on the eyes.

It is in a great location to get to just about anywhere in Long Beach and is a great place for tourist’s to get a good night sleep. There is a huge parking lot with plenty of spaces and overall the area is very clean. I can recommend the Best Western as a decent hotel for tourists coming into Long Beach who want to be in a great location and somewhat affordable prices.

Thompson Hotel

Driving down the palm tree lined streets of Beverly Hills you sometimes feel like you are part of Beverly Hills 90210 and the glam and Ritz of the city engulf you. On a recent trip up to Beverly Hills I decided to check out the Thompson Hotel and their rooftop bar. The Thompson hotel is located on Wilshire is absolutely gorgeous. The interior looks as if it was done by an Italian designer and spent thousands of dollars renovating the place.

The rooftop bar is what the Thompson is known and for, on the very top deck is a beautiful bar and swimming pool. The rooftop is the perfect place to go for a nice dip in the pool or when the sun goes down, a place to party. The Thompson Hotel in Beverly Hills should not be missed and the rooftop bar is amazing. This place will make you think you are a movie star partying on the top deck of an ultra luxurious hotel. Watch out for the drink prices, they can be a little steep, but the view and atmosphere definitely make it worth it.

Costa Mesa Hilton

I arrived at the Costa Mesa Hilton which is located just off the 405 freeway on the corner of Bristol and Paularino. I was there to attend an event that my friend Bryan Elliot was throwing for his Linked OC Linked in group. Tonight we got to listed to Rohit Bhargava which is a very interesting guy and he was talking about his new book called Likeconomics.

The only problem that I had with the hotel is that they made me pay to park my motorcycle. I ride a motorcycle for a reason and it does not take up the spot of a car so shame on your Costa Mesa Hilton for charging full pop on motorcycle parking. Other than that you have an awesome hotel.
After the event I sat down with about 8 of my social media friends that I haven’t seen in awhile and we grabbed some food and drinks. We ate at the Bristol Farms Bar under the huge palm trees and we sat in a spot that let us watch the indoor elevators go up and down. That probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do while eating but oh well. I ordered a veggie wrap and every body else ordered a few pizzas and shared that. We spend about an hour after the event talking and reminiscing and then we went our separate ways.

The Westin Long Beach

The Westin Long Beach is located at 333 East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, CA 90802 which is basically right in the middle of Downtown Long Beach. The Westin has several conference rooms, a nice bar, a fitness center and a swimming pool. There is over 51,000 Square Feet of indoor and outdoor space that can be used for meetings.

There are 2 ballrooms and a meeting room. They are the Ocean Ballroom, The Centennial Ballroom & The Tokyo Vancouver Room which will work for any meetings you may have for your business. The Central Grill Restaurant is an awesome place to grab some food and that is situated in the huge lobby.

Panorama Grill & Lounge

The Panorama Grill & Lounge is located at the top of the Holiday Inn of Long Beach. I came in here the other day to check it out because I have driven past it on the freeway hundreds of times and never stopped in. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a bar and restaurant on the penthouse level so up I went. One side of the Panorama is the bar section and the other side is the dining section. Both provide different views and depending on what time of the day it is etc you can see some pretty cool spots in both Signal Hill and Long Beach.

Today I went up and had breakfast at about 8am and there was nobody there so it was nice and peaceful which is exactly what I was looking for. I ordered the All American Skillet with Sourdough toast and I was served by Eric who is a totally cool guy. I had a great breakfast, an awesome conversation with Eric and got to enjoy the sun rising in the middle of Long Beach which was a first for me. What a great experience I am gonna bring the wife back for dinner next time. They also have a pretty decent happy hour here so come by and grab a half priced drink over looking the middle of Long Beach.

The Queen Mary Hotel

The Queen Mary Hotel was an interesting experience. I have lived in Long Beach for 6 years and had a friend or two stay on board so I finally decided to take the plunge with my wife and I bought the romance package. We brought a board a few bottles of wine so we polished one of those off and then room service showed up with a bottle of Queen Mary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries so we dusted that one off before we headed up to dinner. Then it was off to Sir Winston’s for dinner and finally there was breakfast on board at the Promenade Cafe where we had a buffet style lunch with some awesome scrambled eggs and extra thick bacon.

So that was the food and drink portion of the romance package but the best part was exploring the Queen Mary itself. It is such a huge vessel that there is no way you can even explore all of it at a halfway relaxed pace in a day so we split it up into a two part exploration. We started in the front of the ship on the first way and made our way about halfway down then we had dinner and all that stuff and in the morning after breakfast we spent another 3 hour checking out the front of the ship which was amazing.

Some of the things that you learn about the Queen Mary are simply amazing. Its size for one, the fact that it was named the Grey Ghost and transformed into a troop carrier during world war two is another and then of course there are the celebrities that came on board. Queen Elizabeth was on board which is really amazing, and of course all the displays that have been set up around the vessel. Some are original and some of for show but they are all very cool and you should check them out. Below are some of the photos I shot.

Silks Restaurant Del Mar Hilton Hotel

I arrived at Silk’s restaurant at about 8am and had no problem getting seated. I thought my best and quickest option would be to hit the buffet and see how that would work out. The buffet was stocked up pretty well and lined up nicely so the food was easy to grab. First up was that hot section that included the good stuff like the scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. I loved the bacon and the potatoes but the scrambled eggs where a little dry. This is not surprising in a buffet setting but I have also seen some buffet places do it right as well. Not sure what the deal is with that.

Next up where the pastries and bagels and things of that nature. I had a blueberry muffin which was awesome and all this stuff looked nice and fresh. Next to that where the cereals and stuff like that. I skipped this section but its pretty hard to mess up a box of cereal so we probably don’t need to talk about that.

The final section where the fruit glasses. I snapped up one of these because I enjoy a little fruit with my breakfast. I also grabbed a few pieces of honeydew and cantaloupe. I love these two melons and do not eat them enough so I also grab a few slices when I am in a buffet style setting because they always seem to be around. I would give the buffet a rating of three. It was pretty average and got the job done but nothing special.
