Carl's Jr.

Carl’s Jr. is a powerhouse in the fast food industry with many locations throughout Long Beach and southern California. I recently visited the location on Bellflower Boulevard for some breakfast. When I arrived the location was clean and the service was good but that was about it. When I received my breakfast burrito and sandwich it didn’t look anything like how it did on the big picture on the menu.

The burrito looked like it was sweating and fresh from the microwave. The sandwich was not good and just gave me a stomach ache after eating. I am not sure what the deal was there but I suppose you win some and you loose some and in this case I ended up feeling a little sick. I did not contact Carl’s Jr. about this because in all fairness I did eat other food that day but sometimes you just know.

Carl's Jr Long Beach Towne Center‎

I was on my way out to my friends wedding in Upland, California and it was right in the middle of rush hour so as I was cutting through Long Beach to get onto the 605 freeway I decided to make a quick stop and grab some food at Carl’s Jr at the Long Beach Towne Center‎.

It is always nice to pull into the drive through and find nobody waiting in line. How come they can’t all be like that especially the In-N-Out drive throughs:) Anyway I pulled in and decided to go with the 5 Piece Hand Breaded Chicken Tenders because I was wearing a suit and a white shirt and I did not want to get a big juicy burger all over me.

The Chicken tenders where pretty big and surprisingly filling. I am not to sure that I would come back and get that again when I am at Carl’s Jr because I like their burgers to much but it worked for this time around for sure!

Golden Eagle Restaurant

When your stomach is growling and you are ever in Signal Hill give Golden Eagle restaurant located on Willow Street, a quick stop in. I had to have a quick meeting with a client in Signal Hill and while driving down Willow Street I came across the Golden Eagle. This place really caught my eye with its big golden eagle logo on the sign outside. The building itself reminded me of an old pizza hut and the outside décor wasn’t that great, but hey sometimes looks can be deceiving. The parking lot was pretty clean and had ample parking.

Upon arrival inside, I noticed the plush red booths and clean interior. I walked up to the register where you order and noticed a multitude of options everything from steak and eggs to gyros it was there. I decided to go with the gyro sandwich. It came out promptly and bit into the delicious looking Greek sandwich. The taste was delicious perfectly cooked and the pita was very soft. Overall I give this place a good rating. The décor maybe outdated but the food was delicious. Give the Golden Eagle a try for some fast and very tasty eats located right in the heart of Signal Hill.

Bakers

I was on my way to Las Vegas and since we left at about 4:30 in the morning and now that we passed the rush hour traffic in Los Angeles, we decided to stop in at Bakers and grab a quick bite to eat at the Hesperia location.

This place is good I do not know why they only have them in the Inland Empire and they don’t have any in Los Angeles. I think they would do very well here but that is a different story for a different day.

I went ahead and went for something pretty safe but it did have a lot of calories. I was headed to las vegas for a week so no need to count calories there. I got the Egg Buritto which has reshly scrambled eggs with mild red sauce and mild real cheddar cheese all wrapped in warm flour tortilla. It was super yummy and kept me going all the way to vegas.

In-N-Out Burger

There is so much that I can say about In-N-Out Burger so I will try and keep it short. They cook everything fresh. To my knowledge they are only located in california and they are always packed. I mean from the first restaurants they opened up back in the 90s or 80s a lot of them had two drive throughs and they have been very crowded for as long as I remember.

Do not let the line turn you off though. They keep the menu very simple and you can get in line that has 10 cars in front of you and be out of there in 10 to 15 minutes. Most other fast food restaurants cannot make that claim. The Signal Hill In-N-Out Burger opened about 6 months ago and it has been packed ever since. The opened it in the same parking lot as a Home Depot and there really isn’t a whole lot of fast food in that part of Signal Hill with the exception of a Jack In The Box which is located in the same parking lot. This place gets an easy 5 stars.

Wienerschnitzel

Wienerschnitzel is an American fast food chain founded in 1961 (as “Der Wienerschnitzel”) that specializes in hot dogs, but is currently expanding to other items. Wienerschnitzel locations are found almost exclusively in California and Texas, though others are located in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Washington state. There is also a store in Guam.

Few foods hold the cultural significance of the great American hot dog. From ballparks to airports to home kitchens, hot dogs are one of America’s favorite foods. When I was doing the research on this location I realized that somewhere down the road they dropped the Der off the front of the name.

It is easiest to recognize a Wienerschnitzel by the stores pitched roof and the drive through is located in the middle of the building. The Wienerschnitzel in the photos below is not one of those locations.

Del Taco

I ordered an egg and bacon burrito for breakfast and man did it hit the spot!. I don’t quit remember when Del Taco started making breakfast burrito’s but I am sure glad they did. They run circles around the Taco Bell breakfast burrito’s in my opinion.

This particular location is pretty close to Willow and Cherry in the fine city of Signal Hill. In my opinion it is a little confusing to get to because of there the traffic light is but once you get the hang of it your in pretty good shape.

I have no complaints with the parking lot. Once you get in there are plenty of places to park and the traffic light makes it easy to get in and out of there unlike some of the other Del Taco locations that I have been to.

Carl's Jr

Today I went to Carl’s Jr to eat breakfast. I tried something new this time which was the Big Country Breakfast Burrito combo. The ad they posted on behind the cashier looked a lot better than what I was actually served but after 30 years or so of fast food restaurants you kind of get used to that.

The meal was good and I love the Carl’s Jr tatter tots so that was a bonus. I like them round and to taste like tatter tots unlike their rival across the street (Jack In The Box) which serves these stick things that taste horrible in my opinion.

I have been to this Carl’s Jr many times over the last couple of years and as I dined in this time I typically use the drive through. One thing that I have constantly noticed with this Carl’s Jr is that no matter how busy they are they always ask you to pull forward and wait. I don’t get it and maybe I am missing something here but I am going to pull forward just enough so they can take the next guys money and I am not moving so the whole pull forward thing doesn’t actually work but it does piss people off.

Carl’s Jr please just be a fast food restaurant and have my food ready when I get to the window. Its not that hard and you managed to do it all through the 80′s and for the better part of the 90′s before you started going with this tactic and it is just bad business in my opinion.
