I went to Bevmo for my first time last week and I went there because it is the only place that sells Tito’s Vodka. A friend of mine told me about how good it was and I just had to get a few bottles of it and he told me that Bevmo had it but it was going to be pretty hard to find at other stores. I did look around for it a bit and he was right, and I had to drive all the way down to PCH and 2nd street just for a few bottles of vodka.

This Bevmo is a bit hard to find because the address is on PCH but its way in the back of that shopping plaza. I parked in the front and figured that it would be in there somewhere (which it was) but it would have been nice to know that there was a back section and if I did have that info I would have gone there.

The store was really cool and it was my first time in. They have a massive selection of wine, booze and beer. I am pretty confident that I will have no problem finding my next speciality drink here.

Slater's 50/50

Slater’s 50/50 has been serving superb burgers to the residents of Huntington Beach since 2011, and I decided it was time to try them out. My good friend who I went with today, gave rave reviews and highly recommended Slater’s 50/50 to people with an appetite for tasty burgers. Slater’s 50/50 has been on the travel channel and has won multiple awards so it definitely has great reviews from the public as well. The parking situation was a little unique because of the small lot, but if you want they have valet as well. Once inside the layout was quite unique and went right to choosing my burger.

Their burger’s claim to fame is that their burgers are made from ground beef and ground bacon. I decided to go with the classic 50/50 burger which had a sunny-side up egg, avocado mash, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle adobo mayo on white brioche. When I received my burger and took my first bite, it was like biting into heaven. The mixture of egg, bacon, and cheese made my mouth water and the chipotle mayo was unreal. This was definitely one of the best burgers I have had and to wash it down with an El Segundo Blue House IPA was a great experience. They have over 80 beers on tap as well and highly recommend Slater’s 50/50 to all of you!

Rock Bottom Brewery

On a recent lunchtime date I decided to visit Rock Bottom on Pine in downtown Long Beach. The area of downtown has been revived and is an awesome place to eat and hangout. Rock Bottom is located right on bustling Ocean Boulevard and Pine. The front of the restaurant is very clean and well kept. For lunch we were seated very quickly and as the looks of it there were a lot of lunchtime customers for noon on a Monday.

We were seated quickly and our server was top notch. I ordered a wedge salad for lunch and we received our meals very quickly. My wedge salad was delicious with blue cheese dressing and tasty little bacon bits. It was a good portion as well unlike the miniature side salads you get at other restaurants. I washed my salad down with a pint of beer and we were on our way. The one drawback to the location of Rock Bottom is the parking. Unless you have coins for the meters the parking is very difficult and you must park in the surrounding parking garages. Overall, Rock Bottom is a great restaurant for lunch or dinner!

Pete's Sunset Grille

Recently I enjoyed a beautiful stay at the Hyatt in Huntington Beach and for lunch I decided to eat at Pete’s Sunset Grille located on Pacific Coast Highway. Pete’s is a cool surf themed restaurant and bar which is aptly located right across the street from the beach. The décor is pretty cool and the place as an awesome southern California vibe. I had a burger which was piled high and mighty tasty.

There is a good happy hour from five to seven at night so if you are on a budget that would be the time to go to Pete’s. If you are not staying at the Hyatt there is free valet parking if you spend $25 at Pete’s. If you are staying at the Hyatt or want a cool beach atmosphere for lunch, head on down to Pete’s in Huntington. After eating at Pete’s you will probably be inspired and go for surf!

Sushi Studio

I really am not the biggest sushi fan but after enjoying a few nights out at Sushi Studio in Long Beach, I am a full blown sushi addict. Sushi studio is located on PCH in Long Beach right before Clark. It has a very college vibe with unique menu’s that resemble comic books. Our server was all-time and had a great attitude throughout the whole meal.

My buddies and I ordered about six different rolls and split them. We also ordered much sake and Kirin (beer) which goes hand in hand with sushi. It was my birthday and they do a unique ceremony: dim the lights and play the funniest Japanese music along with clapping their hands. Overall the night was a great success and Sushi Studio is one of my favorite places to get sushi in Long Beach.

KC Branaghans

The neighborhood of Naples in Long Beach is a very unique and beautiful area many residents can’t rave enough about. While taking a late night stroll I came across an Irish bar called K.C Branaghans. I decided to go in and grab a bite to eat and check out this awesome local restaurant. Created in 2007, K.C Branaghans is an Irish Pub and Restaurant with great decor and even better food and drink.

Upon arrival I noticed the cool decor and plenty of barstools and TV’s located throughout the restaurant. There were tables outside and a few large wooden booths on the inside. I ordered the penne pasta and my friend ordered the Cobb salad. We received our food promptly and even though I ordered pasta at an Irish Pub it was delicious. The Cobb salad was top notch as well with prices very reasonable. They have a ton of specials during the week so definitely check this place out. If you are looking for a great local Irish Pub look no further than K.C Branaghans in Naples. With awesome fare and great Irish beers it will be the place to be any night of the week!

Rubios Fish Tacos

Nothing says Mexican food like fish tacos and beer. While Rubio’s is definitely a chain restaurant it can hold its own in the Tex mex category. I recently traveled to beautiful Belmont shore and was on the lookout for a cheap meal of fish tacos. Located on 2nd street In Long Beach, Rubio’s is the spot to be for fish tacos and other Mexican favorites.

Walking in I noticed the beautiful fish tank aquarium located in the very center of the building. The place smelled like fresh fish and Coronas. The line was all the way to the door so I knew this place was popular with locals. I ordered the fish tacos and a chicken burrito and waited in the very awesomely decorated dining room. I received my food in a timely manner and dug in. The fish tacos were delicious and had a great secret sauce that added a creamy and spicy kick. The burrito was divine and chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I highly recommend Rubio’s for all your Mexican food favorites. They also sell beer like Corona and Pacifico which is a definite plus in my book. Head on down to Rubio’s in Belmont shore for a great meal at a good price.

California Heights Market

California Heights Market is located on Orange Ave in Long Beach. This little market from the outside doesn’t not look too swanky or nice but don’t be fooled this place packs a punch when it comes to selling great beer and wine.

Upon arrival and walking in I was surprised of their massive beer and wine selection. Any sort of craft or unique beer they have got it. Whether it be IPA, lagers, stouts, or pale ales the selection was jaw dropping. And too sweeten the pot the customer service was bar none. The store clerk came over and literally schooled me in the art of selecting a high quality beer. He was very nice and showed me one of his favorites. I took his advice and went home with a very tasty and refreshing beer. If you are a beer enthusiast who lives in Long Beach, give California Heights Market a look. With massive selection and great customer service this beats out almost all other liquor stores in Long Beach

The Factory

I enjoy going to the factory gastrobar. I like the overall vibe that they have there. Its a good spot to grab a seat at the bar and watch a game or you can bring the family in for a nice meal.

The factory is a bit on the pricey side but it is worth it in my opinion. On the night that I went, I tried a Chardonnay called Castano and I also had some bacon wrapped figs. After a few glasses of that wine I was feeling pretty good. You can see into the kitchen area if you are sitting at the bar and see your food being prepared which I think is a nice touch.

There is an awesome patio area with very comfortable chairs and you are sitting at the corner of atlantic and carson and the traffic cruises by pretty slowly so its a nice spot to sit vs some of the other places that have outside seating on Atlantic Ave.
