I went up to the Glendale Gun show to buy some 9mm & 12 gauge ammo. For the past month or so the places around my house in Long Beach do not have the ammo I am looking for. I called up Turner Outdoor and found out that they get shipments in on Tuesdays so I went there this past Tuesday and I was only able to buy 5 boxes of 9mm and 5 boxes of 00 buck ammo.
The Glendale Gun show starts at 9am and from what I could tell on line, it is pretty small compared to the Costa Mesa Gun Show which runs a few times a year at the Orange County Fairgrounds. Anyway as I arrived I saw that the Glendale Civic Auditorium was hopping busy. There were protesters on both sides of the street and some where against guns and the other were for guns.
On the website and on the tickets it says free parking but that is not the case. The Auditorium is located right by the college and there are meters all over the place. It took awhile to find a spot but eventually I did.
It cost $10 to get into the Gun Show and the line just to get in was about 45 minutes long at 9:30 on Saturday morning. Once I got it I wanted to located the ammo and after checking it out for a few minutes I realized that 22L was pretty much sold out and 9mm was going quickly. I found that the Lax Firing Range had a good supply of 9mm at the back of the Auditorium so I went over and hopped in line.
The line took about an hour and fifteen minutes to get through but it was worth it. I was able to get 1000 rounds of 9mm reloads which was just what I was looking for and I was able to score a few hundred rounds of 00 buck for my 12 gauge. Perfect I was all set on ammo and it was time to check out the show.
The Show is two levels and takes up the whole Glendale Civic Auditorium. There are a lot of guns there and it seems like they have a little something for everybody with the exception of ammo of course. About 25% of the show was people selling knick knacks and non related gun stuff but it was cool checking some of that stuff out.
I got out of there around noon because I was kind of over the whole thing. It was two crowded for my taste and I am still wearing my neck brace so 3 hours of walking around will still do me in. I am in the market for a 22 rifle but it was hard to talk to people and I am not sure where I would go after 10 day waiting period so I will probably go to Turners or Big 5 and pick up something there instead. The Costa Mesa Gun show takes place in a few weeks. I will be checking that out later this month.
